Terms of service

The rules of the road for using Veritus.

Last updated: 24 May 2026. By using Veritus you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the service.

1. Parties

These terms form a contract between you (“Customer”, “you”) and Design Technology Ltd t/a Transcom Internet Services, registered in England No. 2828342, of Concorde House, Brighton, BN2 1TS (“Transcom”, “we”).

2. The service

Veritus provides a cloud-based signup fraud scoring service accessed via an API and JavaScript widget. The service returns a verdict (allow, review, block), a numeric score, and a list of reasons for each query. The service is provided on a monthly subscription basis at the tier you select.

3. Your account

You are responsible for the security of your account credentials and API keys. You must notify us immediately of any suspected unauthorised use. You agree to provide accurate billing and contact information and to keep it up to date.

4. Acceptable use

Your use of Veritus is also governed by our Acceptable Use Policy. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate it.

5. Fees and billing

Subscription fees are billed monthly in advance. Overage fees are billed monthly in arrears. All fees are in pounds sterling and exclude VAT, which is added where applicable. Failed payments may result in service suspension after 7 days’ notice.

You may cancel at any time effective at the end of your current billing period. We do not refund partial months.

6. Service availability and SLA

We aim for 99.9% uptime on the Scoring API. Scheduled maintenance is announced at least 48 hours in advance and conducted in off-peak hours. Scale-tier customers benefit from a formal 99.9% SLA with service credits as set out in their order form; lower tiers receive best-effort uptime without service credits.

7. Data processing

For data we process on your behalf via the Scoring API, we act as your data processor under UK GDPR Article 28. The Data Processing Addendum incorporated by reference into these terms governs that processing. You are the data controller and warrant that you have a lawful basis to send us the end-user data you submit.

8. Intellectual property

The Veritus service, widget, API, ML models, documentation, and brand are owned by Transcom. We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the service for the term of your subscription. You retain all rights in the data you submit. We retain the right to use anonymised, aggregated feature vectors derived from your submissions for model training.

9. Confidentiality

Each party agrees to protect the other’s confidential information with at least the same standard of care it applies to its own, and not to disclose it except as required by law or as needed to provide the service.

10. Warranty disclaimer

Veritus is a probabilistic fraud-scoring tool. We do not warrant that it will identify every fraudulent signup or that it will never flag a real customer. The service is provided “as is” to the maximum extent permitted by law; you remain responsible for your business decisions based on Veritus output.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability under these terms for any 12-month period is limited to the fees paid by you in that period. Neither party is liable for indirect, consequential, or loss-of-profit damages. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

12. Termination

Either party may terminate for convenience on 30 days’ written notice. We may terminate immediately for material breach (including unpaid fees or Acceptable Use violation) that is not remedied within 14 days of notice. On termination we will give you 30 days to export your data; after that, we may delete it.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

14. Changes

We may update these terms on 30 days’ notice by email. Continued use of the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
